Operating as an independent, member-driven national country platform, CMAN ensures that carbon credit generation in Nigeria yields real, additional, and measurable climate benefits while safeguarding host community rights and national sovereignty.

Our Story
CMAN began as a Carbon Market Community of Practiceโa collaborative platform uniting project developers, investors, policymakers, technical experts, and climate practitioners. The community supported major national frameworks including Nigeriaโs Carbon Market Activation Policy & Manual of Procedures, Carbon Pricing & Pilot Carbon Tax Framework, Climate Change Fund, Climate Finance Taxonomy, NDC 3.0 Roadmap, and the National Carbon Registry.
In November 2025, during the 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30) in Belรฉm, Brazil, CMAN was officially unveiled by the Honourable Minister of Environment, Mallam Balarabe Abbas Lawal, at the Nigerian Pavilion as Nigeria's official carbon market country platform.
Today, CMAN serves as Nigeria's carbon market country platform, uniting all actors across Nigeria's carbon market ecosystem - including project developers, investors, businesses, corporate buyers, financial institutions, service providers, government institutions, local communities, the Academia, and technical partners to maximize the full opportunities within the carbon market value chain for Nigeria; shape policies and actions that builds a transparent, high integrity carbon market ecosystem in the country; support a strong pipeline of projects, capital, and transactions at scale; and catalyze Net zero, Nigeria's NDCs and Sustainable development attainment.
- Co-architected foundational national policies including the National Carbon Pricing Framework & NCCC Manual of Procedures.
